Forty-Eighth Annual Institute on Lake Superior Geology ILSG 2002 Kenora, Ontario May 12-16, 2002 |
Introduction
The Institute on Lake Superior Geology was founded in 1955 "to provide a means whereby geologists in the Great Lakes region may exchange ideas and scientific data; to promote better understanding of the geology of the Lake Superior region, and to plan and conduct geological field trips." The 2002 Annual Meeting will be held in Kenora, Ontario, Canada for the first time since 1985. Since the founding of the organization, interests of researchers in the region have evolved from Precambrian geology and mineral deposits to Paleozoic and Pleistocene geology and environmental geochemistry. The 48th Annual Meeting will present topics relating to the geology of the Lake Superior Region of Michigan, Minnesota, Ontario and Wisconsin. The special location of Kenora invites the inclusion of topics related to the geology of southeastern Manitoba. A list of oral and poster presentations will be posted once available.
